The concert in Seattle 5/19/99 was fantastic!

The opener Joan Jones played for about an hour. She played "Everyday Down," "Change," and "Party." She played a few others, but I don't know her songs all that well. She reminded me of Cheryl Crow. She played 3 different instruments, trumpet, piano, and guitar.

Seal was great... set was simple, but well lit. Tony Levin's electric cello was very unique looking and made a great sound. Right after the show ended, Tony took his video camera and panned over the audience as he was walking off. Only one song did not come off all that well and that was "Human Being." It is a great song on the CD, but live it just doesn't sound good played live. The best song I thought was "Deep Water." The lights were an emerald green on the backdrop, and the song highlights his voice so well.

Here is the play list:

  • The Beginning
  • Future Love Paradise
  • Human Being
  • Lost My Faith
  • Dreaming In Metaphors
  • Prayer For The Dying
  • Latest Craze
  • Killer
  • Deep Water
  • Just Like You Said
  • Newborn Friend
  • Fast Changes
  • Kiss From A Rose
  • Wild
  • Bring It On
  • Crazy
  • Move On Up

  • ??? New one ??? [Ed: Probably Curtis Mayfield's "Move On Up" ]
It was wonderful. The only song I wished he had played was When a Man is Wrong which I see he now plays a lot on his tour. Also, he did a 3 song encore, is that rare????
It looks like it is. It had to be a cover or new because he kept referring to his music sheet.
Are encores based on the audience, just curious?

Anyhoo, it was great and I will never miss him again. It was my first time and I loved it. He is just as good and better in concert then on his records.

If anyone has any good boots of this tour let me know. I am also looking for one from his last tour called I think "Wild Violets" - that may be wrong.
